Early Edge’s Executive Director Advocates for Early Learning and Care in Washington, D.C.
Early Edge California’s Executive Director Patricia Lozano visited our nation’s capital in February where she met with key Members of Congress and Administration officials to advocate for our country’s youngest learners. Patricia shared our new federal policy agenda, which presents the policies needed to ensure that all children receive high-quality, racially, ethnically, linguistically, and culturally responsive early education, enter kindergarten ready to learn, and thrive through 3rd grade and beyond. Meetings were focused on ensuring all children have the necessary support and access to high-quality Early Learning and Care and identifying opportunities for partnership around our policy agenda.
During her trip, Patricia had the chance to speak with the Administration for Children and Families, the Department of Education, members of the California delegation, both House and Senate Democratic leadership, and national partners.
Patricia briefed leaders on innovations in California and proposed policy solutions to support children and families across the country, including expanding high-quality universal preschool, establishing an asset-based approach to identifying and supporting Dual Language Learners (DLLs), promoting investment in professional development, training, and compensation of Early Learning and Care teachers and caregivers, and supporting Friend, Family, and Neighbor (FFN) care.
We’re excited to continue to educate and foster partnerships with our nation’s leaders!
