Early Edge Celebrates Back-To-School with New TKCalifornia Content
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) expansion has started in the 2022-23 school year! TKCalifornia, Early Edge’s online hub for finding easy-to-use TK resources for administrators, teachers, and parents, has been updated with new resources and information in time for back to school.
The back-to-school updates include:
- Updated information for administrators including TK funding and staffing options such as the TK emergency teaching permits.
- 20+ new resources added to the resources library for administrators, teachers, and parents around anti-bias education, social-emotional learning, math and science, and more!
- An updated TK policy map for parents in English and Spanish.
- A list of questions parents can ask their local school district about TK—available as downloadable English and Spanish PDFs.

NEW BLOG SERIES! Today, Early Edge also launches “TK Expansion in Action” which covers California’s TK expansion in the 2022-23 school year by interviewing districts across the state to highlight strategies they have employed to make expansion successful. The inaugural blog features San Diego Unified’s stellar efforts in enrolling more than 4,000 students in 185 TK classrooms across all elementary school sites and the approach they used to get there.
