Early Edge California Invited to Colombia for 10th Annual Leaders for Education Summit

Early Edge’s Executive Director Patricia Lozano was invited by the US State Department as part of its U.S. Speaker Program to present last week on how Early Learning works in the United States at Semana Magazine’s 10th Annual Leaders for Education Summit in Bogota, Colombia. 

In her presentation at the Summit on Sept. 27th, “Early Childhood Education in the U.S. Today and Tomorrow,” Patricia shared about the importance of high-quality Early Learning experiences for young children, as well as background on Early Learning in the United States, and highlighted the efforts of California and several other states in supporting young learners. In addition to the Summit, Patricia visited Bogota Universities, Universidad Javeriana and Universidad El Bosque, to give her presentation to undergraduate and graduate students in the Faculty of Education. Patricia also visited Colombia’s Ministry of Education where she met with the Early Childhood Education, Education Reform, and International Cooperation teams to discuss the U.S.’s Early Learning system and the modalities of care to expand coverage. The group discussed the challenges as well as best practices that have been implemented in the countries to provide access to high-quality Early Learning programs. In addition, they discussed creating future opportunities and spaces for exchange.

While in Bogota, Patricia was also interviewed about her experience in the U.S. as an Early Learning expert for the nationally-recognized podcast series from “Ruta Maestra” an education magazine that targets teachers as well as other staff that support Early Learning.
