Early Edge California’s Statement on Our Country’s Current Unrest

Over the last week, our country has experienced incalculable tragedy and our hearts are with all those who are enduring hurt and anguish. As this painful episode continues to unfold, Early Edge California stands with Black children, families, and communities everywhere to fight for racial equality and against injustice.

At the heart of our work is children: they are our future. Our mission is to provide young kids with quality Early Learning experiences that will lay the foundation for success throughout their lives.

“We shouldn’t have to feel like this.”
Listen to this powerful statement from a young child.

Ending systemic racism and inequity won’t happen overnight, but Early Edge California will continue its work with teachers, schools, providers, partners, and the State to pave the way for a brighter future for our kids, especially those who are marginalized, unaccounted for, and falling through the cracks of the education system.

We have gathered some helpful resources for adults supporting children during this difficult time:

How to Teach Your Kids to Fight Hate: An Age-by-Age Guide (Parents.com)
Racism and Violence: Using Your Power as a Parent to Support Children Aged Two to Five (Zerotothree.org)
