EdSource reporter Zaidee Stavely speaks with Early Edge Director of Policy Carolyne Crolotte about the two new screening instruments for Transitional Kindergarten students that will replace the ELPAC assessment which was removed from use through the passage of Early Edge co-sponsored bill AB 2268 (Muratsuchi). The new screeners use playful games and stories to test 4-year-olds’ language skills.

“I feel very pleased that we’re no longer using an assessment that’s developmentally inappropriate for younger children.”
