The cost of childcare in California is unaffordable
Early Edge Executive Director Patricia Lozano speaks with Octavio Valdez from Univision 34 Los Angeles’ Al Punto California about the lack of high-quality, affordable child care in California for infants and toddlers, and what state legislators can do to support families of young children and the providers that take care of them.
“California has made many investments in 3- and 4-year-old children. We have a free program for 4-year-olds, but now is the time to do it for babies. Also, so that parents can return to work, especially mothers, because sometimes they can’t. It’s incredibly expensive to go to a [child care] center, and they have to stay home when they want to pursue their careers.”
