Niveles de lectura de niños en California

Early Edge’s Executive Director Patricia Lozano speaks with Gabriela Teissier at Univision Edición Digital California about the reading challenges faced by California’s children, the opportunity parents have to simultaneously develop their child’s home language and English, and the importance of taking advantage of the state’s preschool programs.

Patricia Lozano Executive Director

“Research shows that learning the home language with one’s parents is very important to be able to learn in English. That even when we know two languages, we are going to be much better students. That is why we want all parents to continue speaking Spanish at home, reading books, telling stories, and that children can learn English at school.”
