Policy Brief from Early Edge CA & Partners on Supporting California’s FFN Providers

June 14, 2022

Strengthening Support for California’s Family, Friend, And Neighbor Providers highlights the unique benefits that families experience through FFN care. The brief also summarizes some of the major challenges these caregivers face and potential solutions for improving FFN supports. Ultimately, this brief underscores the need for increased investment in FFN care to support millions of California children and families who choose it.

This brief was informed by the work of Early Edge’s FFN Workgroup, comprised of organizations that support FFNs, as well as direct feedback from FFN providers participating in Early Edge’s FFN Advisory Groups and programs through collaborating support organizations. We thank these individuals for their input and guidance. Special thanks to the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the Heising-Simons Foundation for their continued support of our work to uplift California’s FFN providers.
