Early Edge Joins First Meeting of 2025 for the LAUSD Board Committee on Children and Families in Early Education

Early Edge California’s Director of Policy, Carolyne Crolotte, joined the first meeting of the year on January 23rd for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board Committee on Children and Families in Early Education as an external member of the committee. 

The meeting began with opening remarks from Chairperson Kelly Gonez followed by two presentations. The first presentation was about “Moving Toward Universal Pre-K  ̶  LAUSD in a Wider Ecology” presented by Bruce Fuller (PhD Professor Emeritus, Education and Public Policy) from the University of California, Berkeley. The second presentation was on “Enrollment in Early Education Programs: A Look at Historical and Current Data Trends” presented by LAUSD staff including Pia Sadaqatmal (Chief of Transitional Programs), Dr. Dean Tagawa (Executive Director, Early Childhood Education), and Ranae Amezquita (Director, Early Childhood Education). The meeting concluded with closing remarks and an opportunity for public comment.
