Advocating with Partners

Stand Up for Children Day with Parent Voices

On May 14th, Parent Voices California had their 29th Annual “Stand for Children Day” at the State Capitol. Early Edge’s Policy Analyst, Andrew Avila, joined alongside parents, children, and child care supporters, such as Child Care Providers United (CCPU) member Miren Algorri (pictured), to march and rally urging state representatives to take action for children in California.

On June 11th, members of the Early Edge team including Director of Policy Carolye Crolotte, Senior Policy Analyst Mirel Herrera, Policy Analyst Andrew Avila, and Strategic Consultant—Labor Jon Youngdahl were at the State Capitol to support CCPU’s Day of Action calling for fair pay for all family child care providers.

Para Los Niños’ 2025 Annual Benefit

On May 8th, Early Edge’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Wayland, and Director of Communications, Joanna Cole, attended the Para Los Niños’ 45th Anniversary Gala in Beverly Hills to support our partners Para Los Niños and celebrate the work they’re doing to support children, youth, and families.

Women’s Caucus Screening of ‘MAKE A CIRCLE”

On May 19th, First 5 California hosted a private screening of “MAKE A CIRCLE” in Sacramento. Early Edge’s Policy Analyst, Andrew Avila, attended the screening. It was a great opportunity to connect with various ECE coalition members and union members, including Zonia Sanchez, a special guest speaker for our California Leading from Home program.

Bringing Up California Summit

On June 3rd, Early Edge’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Wayland, and Senior Policy Analyst, Mirel Herrera, joined the Bringing Up California Summit in Oakland. It was a great opportunity to meet with an amazing, intersectional group of advocates and organizations to discuss racial justice for our state’s children, families, and communities. Formerly the Whole Child Equity Partnership, Bringing Up California is a committed multisector, multiracial coalition of advocates, community organizers and service providers united in transforming California into the best state to have, raise and be a child.

Consortium of Multilingual Learner Success’ Voices of Hope

On April 11th, Early Edge’s Director of Policy, Carolyne Crolotte, and Policy Analyst, Eduardo Gutiérrez, joined the Consortium of Multilingual Learner Success’ Voices of Hope event to celebrate multilingual education and honor the schools and leaders making an impact on Multilingual Learners across LA County. Early Edge is proud to serve as an advisory member of the Consortium for Multilingual Learner Success.
