Early Edge Hosts the Second Advisory Group Leadership Council Meeting for 2024

August 7, 2024

Early Edge California’s Advisory Group Leadership Council convened its second meeting of the year on June 3rd, which was hosted in English and Spanish, thanks to the support of a simultaneous interpreter. The Leadership Council “Ambassadors” are lead participants from our Educator, Parent, and Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) Advisory Groups, providing opportunities for deeper collaboration and impact. Ambassadors represent their respective advisory groups, serving as a liaison between advisory group members and Early Edge.

The meeting featured a listening session to solicit the Leadership Council’s feedback on messaging to support Early Edge’s advocacy around strengthening infant and toddler care. The group’s input informed the final development of the campaign’s key messaging, including its vision statement and call to action.

Following Rally’s presentation and discussion, FFN Ambassador Margarita Herrera shared updates and her key takeaways from a recent FFN Advisory Group meeting. This standing portion of the Leadership Council meetings is an opportunity to spotlight an Ambassador, build their capacity for leadership, and foster connections between Early Edge’s Advisory Groups.

The remainder of the meeting focused on planning for the first-ever All-Advisory Groups Meeting on July 29th. Thanks to the guidance from the Leadership Council, the meeting was centered around the topic of mental health supports and resources for Early Childhood Education (ECE) educators, caregivers, and parents.

The next Leadership Council meeting will take place in September 2024.

Early Edge thanks the Ambassadors for their participation in their second year of the Leadership Council. We look forward to continuing to strengthen and grow our model for connecting policy and practice through key efforts like the Advisory Group Leadership Council, recognizing and highlighting the expertise and commitment to quality Early Learning within our community.
