Early Edge Advisory Groups Convene in Last Round of Meetings for 2021
Early Edge California recently hosted its last round of stakeholder advisory group meetings for the year.
Early Learning Educator Advisory Group
Our Early Learning Educator Advisory Group met on November 16th for a special presentation on the Multilingual Learning Toolkit. It was an opportunity for advisory group members to hear an overview of the website, learn about its key resources—including the user guide pages that were added as part of the recent round of updates—and to explore the site on their own devices. Early Edge is planning a hybrid meeting approach for the group in 2022, with one round of in-person gatherings in the three key regions (Bay Area, Fresno, and Los Angeles) in addition to continuing virtual meetings.
Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) Advisory Group
The FFN Advisory Group meetings were held in Spanish and English on November 18th and 20th respectively. This was the second meeting for our new FFN Advisory Group in English. During each meeting, both groups discussed the new Build Back Better (BBB) Framework proposal as well as how to conduct better outreach to FFNs when there are new opportunities to network and have access to trainings, playgroups, and other resources in their communities. FFNs shared that public libraries, school districts, Resource & Referral (R&R) agencies, and word of mouth are the best way for them to receive information. In 2022, we will be recruiting new members from Southern California to have representation from FFNs all across the state.
Parent Advisory Groups
The Spanish and English Parent Advisory Group meetings were held in late November and early December. Both of these meetings were focused on the Build Back Better (BBB) Framework and how this proposal, if approved, would impact families with young children. Our members shared that the aspects of BBB that would have the largest positive impact in their lives would be free full-day preschool, paid family leave, and child care subsidies.
