Co-authored by Early Edge Director of Policy Carolyne Crolotte and Policy Analyst Eduardo Gutiérrez and partners from Catalyst California, Californians Together, and California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE), the article outlines the recent advancements California has made in supporting Dual Language Learners (DLLs) and their families through signed legislation AB 1363 to establish a standard process for identifying DLLs in California State Preschool to support their unique strengths and needs, and more recently, AB 393, which extends the DLL identification process to children in general child care programs (CCTR) and the Migrant Child Care Program (CMIG).
