Celebrating Lunar New Year

February 17, 2026

Resources for Early Learning Teachers, Caregivers, and Families

Lunar New Year, also referred to as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is a significant holiday in Chinese culture and is also celebrated by various Asian countries and people around the world. Every year the dates of the celebration vary as they follow the phases of the moon starting with the new moon and ending with the full moon. This year, Lunar New Year is observed starting on February 17th. Each new year is represented by an animal from the Chinese zodiac…2026 is the year of the horse!

In celebration, Early Edge California put together a list of various educational resources to introduce Early Learning teachers, caregivers, and families to the Lunar New Year celebration, and the Chinese culture and language.
