Introducing Early Edge California’s New Executive Director

We are excited to announce that Patricia Lozano will be the new executive director of Early Edge California. As we look to the future of our advocacy and early learning in California, we’re thrilled that Patricia is taking the helm with a true passion for supporting educators and improving the early care and education of California’s children.

As executive director, Patricia will ensure that Early Edge California continues to be a strong advocate for increased access to quality early childhood experiences. Moving forward, she will lead our new work to drive a policy agenda to help California attract, support, and retain effective early childhood educators as the lynchpin of quality. Patricia brings a powerful nexus of the policy, practice, and research focus that we envision for Early Edge California.

As you can see from our press release, Patricia began her career as a teacher and understands the needs of early childhood educators.

She also has a deep knowledge of the early learning landscape in California, where she’s spearheaded projects at UCLA’s Center for Improving Child Care Quality, First 5 LA, and the RAND Corporation, and developed research and evaluation projects to find evidence-based best practices for teachers to work with dual language learners. Most recently, she was a senior program officer working on the national early learning strategy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Now is the time for California to lead the way in early learning. Patricia will officially join Early Edge California on September 18, and we know that she will be engaged with all of you to seize this moment for California’s diverse young learners.
