Position Overview

Early Edge California is currently seeking an Early Childhood Education Consultant with strong writing and analytical skills to conduct targeted projects to help inform the organization’s legislative agenda. 

Term: 6 months

Projects May Include:

  • Researching topics affecting child care or early learning for young children in California
  • Comparing California child care and early learning policies to other state counterparts
  • Collecting and analyzing information, including data from surveys and existing reports
  • Determining the effect of child care, early learning programs and other interventions on broad economic measures
  • Compiling findings to publish analytical research and editorials
  • Conducting cost/benefit analyses and making recommendations to legislators and government officials


  • This role is designated as an independent contractor. The consultant will control when, how, and where work is performed within a predefined statement of work and may complete work on their own time without a set schedule or set number of daily or weekly required hours. 
  • Extensive experience in Early Childhood Education policy in California
  • Strong background in policy analysis and development
  • In-depth content knowledge of Early Childhood Education in higher education, training and professional development systems and Dual Language Learners
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to concisely distill and present complex information
  • Strong program development and evaluation experience
  • Ability to prioritize based on organizational strategies and manage multiple deadlines
  • Master’s Degree preferred
